Mercury Heated Jacket FAQs
How do I turn Mercury off?
Press and hold the power button located on the interior of the jacket for 1 second. We recommend removing the battery after long periods of use to recharge it and remove the battery when storing the Mercury Heated Jacket for long periods of time.
How do I change heat levels?
Heat levels can be toggled through by pressing the power button. Each level is indicated by a color:
- Red: High heat
- White: Medium heat
- Blue: Low heat
What’s new from previous generations of Mercury?
The current Mercury Heated Jacket (Third Generation) has been designed for more versatile use across a wider range of climates. We lightened the construction to allow the jacket to be comfortably worn to 60ºF / 15ºC, but go all the way down to 20ºF / -7ºC. The new heating system allows for 3x the heat of our 2018 (First Generation) and 2019 (Second Generation) versions. The current jacket does not require an app for control, and it does not use our previous “intelligent thermostat” system.
What temperatures is Mercury designed for?
Mercury is designed with lightweight insulation and powerful heating elements to span a wide range of climates. Unpowered, Mercury can be comfortably worn at 60ºF / 15ºC; at full power it can ben worn as low as 20ºF / -7ºC.
Is the Mercury Heated Jacket waterproof or water repellent?
Mercury features a PFC/PFOA-free durable water repellent coating which will cause water droplets to bead up and roll off in light precipitation. This coating maintains 80% of its effectiveness after 10 washes. If you’d like to refresh the water repellency, we recommend Nikwax TX.Direct Waterproofing Spray.
How do I care for my Mercury Jacket?
Always remove the battery prior to washing. Machine wash cold, tumble dry low. Make sure Mercury is fully dry before reconnecting the battery. The water-resistant finish can be refreshed yearly with Nikwax TX.Direct Waterproofing Spray.
How durable is the Mercury Jacket?
Mercury has undergone 50+ ASTM/AATCC tests for durability, and its heating components have been tested to 50 wash and dry cycles. Learn more about our durability testing here.
Is Mercury safe or compatible with medical devices?
We’ve included a safety fuse in the jacket that automatically shuts off when temperatures rise to an unsafe level (above 135ºF). If you wear a pacemaker or other medical device, check with your healthcare provider about any potential interference between devices that comply with FCC Part 15.
Can I take Mercury Jacket on an airplane?
Yes. The Mercury Jacket is safe for travel - however, we recommend disconnecting the battery during TSA security checks and in flight.
Mercury Lithium Ion Battery FAQs
Is a battery included?
Yes. All Mercury Jackets are shipped with a 5,000 mAh 12V USB-C Lithium Ion battery. This battery is specially designed for high-power output (unlike standard cell-phone charging batteries), which increases its longevity and safety. Note: The battery is primarily used to power the jacket, it can be used to charge other devices as well.
How long does the Mercury battery last?
Battery life will primarily differ based on the heat levels used, as indicated by the power button indicator light. Note: Extreme cold may reduce overall battery output.
- High Heat (Red): 3.5 hours
- Medium Heat (White): 4.5 hours
- Low Heat (Blue): 7 hours
How long does the Mercury battery take to charge?
With a wall charger that supports high-power charging, a full charge should take 2 hours. A standard 5W USB-A charger will take up 9 hours to charge. Note: Mercury does not come with a dedicated charging brick.
How much does the battery weigh?
Approximately 9.9 ounces.
